Problem
Bus manufacturers/assemblers are constantly looking for ways to decrease production time and costs so as to achieve acceptable profit margins and faster deliveries. In this high-speed, developing technical world, innovation has to be embraced in order to maintain market position.
Solution
Thoreb's Elsy is a system designed to manage and monitor the electrical components of vehicles so that clients can have confidence in their vehicle electrical systems. Electrical faults are easily traced, either by using the vehicle computer display screen or by the Thoreb application ThService (using a portable computer). Error reports can automatically be sent to the Control Centre.
Thoreb’s Elsy provides high levels of quality and reliability to both bus builders and bus operators.
Features
- A standardised cable harness, resulting in less design/production time and cost
- Decentralised functionality with shorter wires and less connectors, resulting in up to 70kg less weight. No timers, relays or fuses
- The electrical system design uses standardised logic blocks and more complex ready-to-use blocks (e.g. for climate control), in combination with parameter settings to enable standard software for all buses. This decreases design and production time
- System logic is software-based, enabling fast and easy adaptation to customer needs
- Graphical design tools (with their simpler documentation) results in time saved by the electrical design department
- More controls shown to the driver on his display; fewer control units elsewhere in the vehicle
- Computerised diagnostic tools for faster end of line diagnostic via remote diagnostics, resulting in faster repairs
- Button decoder solutions facilitate mounting the dashboard, so reducing cabling production time
Resulting in:
- Greater competitiveness, increased brand-value, better brand image, higher margins for the manufacturer
